CENTRAL PATTANA PUBLIC COMPANY LIMITED Report on the Year 2000 Preparation Plan Central Pattana Public Company Limited and Subsidiaries engage in management of shopping centers by providing retail space for rent and related services in those shopping centers. Its head office is located at 1693 Phaholyothin Road, Lardyao,Chatuchak, Bangkok,Telephone 937-1555, Fax. 937-1580.The Company would like to submits the fifth report on the progress of the year 2000 crisis preparation up to 30 July 1999.The Company fully completed its year 2000 preparation plan. Therefore, this report is the last report on this issue. I. Computer Systems The computer systems of the Company are used internally within the Company and its subsidiaries. There are two systems: 1. Personal computer (PC) 2. AS/400 computer Databases of both systems are sharing between Property Management Department and Finance & Accounting Department under the supervision of Computer Department. II. Year 2000 Problem Solving Plans The Company prepared for the millenium problem solving since the beginning of 1998.A working group was set up to analyze and evaluate the effects of Y2K.The working group comprised of user representatives from Property Development Department and Finance & Accounting Department and supervised by Computer Department.After analyzed and evaluated the effects of Y2K, the Company set up action plan for problem solving. The procedures in investigating,examining, testing and replacing of software, hardware and property operational systems were implemented. 1. Software 1.1 In-house developed applications on PC Applications of food center were completely examined for fully century compliance capabilities in August 1998.The applications of parking system, implemented in January 1999,have already been designed for Y2K compliance. 1.2 In-house developed applications on AS/400 In-house developed applications on AS/400, included of ADD-ON programs, Promotion & Commission program, Sales & Property program and payroll program, have been designed for Y2K compliance. The Company re-examined and tested all programs to ensure the correctness of all date-related systems.In addition,all programs were test-run on hardware with system date of year 2000. The testing process was completed in May 1999. 1.3 Software package on PC In August 1998, the Company changed to use software package that already complied with year 2000. 1.4 Software package JDE on AS/400 The Company uses J D Edwards (JDE) program. JDE was awarded year 2000 certification by Information Technology Association of America (ITAA),a trade association representing aboard spectrum of IT industry leaders.All date-related applications of JDE have been thoroughly tested and can be ensured as having fully Y2K compliance capabilities.In June 1999,all programs were completely test-run on hardware with system date of year 2000. No problem has been founded. 2. Hardware 2.1 Personal Computer Hardware Major problem of Y2K of the Company was personal computer (PC) hardware. Approximately 81% of total PC needed to be replaced with new one that had Y2K compliance capabilities. The Company gradually changed new PC and had completely changed in April 1999 with total cost of 4.25 million baht. 2.2 AS/400 Hardware New OS that complied with year 2000 was installed in May 1998. 2.3 Network System The Company completely changed some network equipment that needed to be replaced in April 1999. 3. Property Operational Systems The Company examined all property operational systems;for example, elevator, escalator and telephone system. To ensure Y2K compliance capabilities, certifications of year 2000 compliance were asked from vendors.Only telephone control system of Pinklao Project needed to be replaced. The Company already installed new control system in April 1999. III. Costs in Y2K Preparation Budget of year 2000 preparation plan was 7 million baht.However,actual cost was only 4.90 million baht or 0.15% of Shareholders Equity as at 30 June 1999, which was insignificant to the business operation. IV. Analysis and Managements Comment The senior management of the Company was fully aware of the effects from the year 2000 crisis and early prepared a solving plan.The action plan was 100% executed. All problems were solved. The management believed that no significant year 2000 problem would occur on the Companys computer system.
